In our records the tapwater in Rio de Janeiro is dirty and not drinkable. The pollution is too bad to drink it. Please also use bottled water to cook.
The air and water quality in Rio de Janeiro is superior to that in other big cities. This is because Rio has a huge water treatment plant, a highly advanced sewage treatment system, and a sophisticated urban runoff management system URMS. The wastewater treatment systems are capable of treating even the smallest amount of pollution from industrial activities with an acceptable level of performance. However, Rio lacks a comprehensive system for stormwater management. There are also no good alternatives to the traditional sewerage system. To tackle these issues, we propose a new approach based on using integrated water and sewer systems as a base for a complete stormwater drainage system along the entire catchment.
There are various activities in and around Rio de Janeiro. One of the most important isthe Cinema do Brasil Brazilian Cinema. This cinema, which is held every year on January 6th at the Teatro Municipalde Niteri, is one of Brazils biggest film festivals. There are two main genres represented by films from Rio the genre of comedy andhumor as well as those that explore social issues such as AIDS, drug abuse, etc.The first weekend of April is when the festival begins. Each year, the audience comes to watchsome of these films. The films chosen for the competition showings can be very different.but each year it is a challenge to get all the films shown. In addition to the screenings, there will be discussions about the selected films duringwhich time you can also see the art installations created by artists from the city. This event is always worth attending! In the past, I have participated in the "Cinepax", an exhibition organized byan Argentinean filmmaker, Diego Varela, who has recently been appointed as director offilm at So Paulo State University. It consists of 12 short documentaries he made withhis colleagues. I am pleased to say that this particular edition was not only filmed butwas also performed live. And even though some of them were recorded without any editing orpostproduction involved, they still managed to make sense of their subjects. Here's a brief review of what I saw yesterdayI had the opportunity to go to Rio after a couple of days' vacation while my friend and his family attended a wedding in Santa Catarina. Our flight leftSao Paulo at 3 AM, so we took the metro down to Copacabana Beach. When we got off the train, we spotteda huge crowd of people already waiting for our arrival. After a few minutes, however, things started moving quickly again. A woman approached us and asked if she could take a picture of us. She gave me her phone number and told me to call her back. So I did. As soon as she answered, she said, "Yes, why? Are you here for a movie?" We explained that we were both filmmakers and that indeed we would like to attend the film festival. "Oh, ok," she replied.
